This hidden gem is located close to The gateway of India, but is not an easy place to find, you really have to look for it. Jhaveri Contemporary is a small art gallery located on the third floor in an old traditional Indian building in the Colaba area.
Jhaveri Contemporary aims to bridge the gap between generations through art. The artists on display are chosen in order to disrupt the way modern Indian art is looked upon.
Bungalow Eight is our favourite concept lifestyle and fashion store. It mirrors the modern India and is an intimate space that feels like a home. This store does not change with trends and you will find incredible brands, which you might never have heard of before, within this concept store.
We visit this store every time we go to Mumbai to get new inspiration and a boost of creativity.
Clove the store is the newest concept store in Mumbai. This store offers a taste of the modern India and is nestled into the old Art Deco quarter of Colaba.
Clove is imagined as a home and offers everything from fashion, design and craft from across India. Classic and eclectic, it appeals to a diverse set of people – the local, the gifter, the traveler, the collector.
The concept store Le Mill in Mumbai has its eyes on Paris and heart in Mumbai. Each brand in the store is hand-picked by the founders to suit the needs of the modern Indian woman. At Le Mill you will find luxury western brands mixed with the best of Indian contemporary design, jewellery and fashion.
Raw Mango represents the modern Indian fashion. It is a brand of contemporary Indian handwoven textiles crafted using traditional techniques. The brand was born out of a thought to re-look Indian fashion and design without any preset notions. Raw Mango do not believe that designs need to be kitschy to be Indian. Colours and designs find its roots in Indian philosophy and traditions.
Trishna is one of the restaurants which we have visited most in India. You sit on wooden benches and eat amazing seafood, meat and vegetarian dishes. Trishna also has a restaurant in London, but eating at Trishna in Mumbai gives you an enhanced experience.
Sequel’s philosophy is “wholesome world cuisine” with an emphasis on natural and organic ingredients. This café sources their products from the far corners of the world from the Himalayas to Peru.
It is the perfect place to go to if the city life of Mumbai becomes too intense.
Every Sunday Sequal offers a farmers’ market of fresh fruit and vegetables located above the café itself.
Kala Ghoda Café is located in the area called Kala Ghoda. Kala Ghoda Café has both a coffee shop and a small restaurant which is tucked in behind the coffee shop. This place is an artistically-minded modern café with a menu of light bites which are baked daily.
